MINNEAPOLIS (trfnews.i234.me) – A terrifying incident unfolded in South Minneapolis on Friday afternoon, when a vehicle was stolen with a 4-year-old child inside.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, the vehicle, which contained two children—ages 4 and 6—was left running unattended on the 5500 block of 37th Avenue South around 2:08 p.m. An unknown man approached the vehicle, removed the 6-year-old, and then drove away with the 4-year-old still inside.
Approximately 30 minutes later, officers located the stolen vehicle still running on the 4500 block of 42nd Avenue South. Fortunately, the 4-year-old was found unharmed inside.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, and no arrests have been made at this time.
The Minneapolis Police Department is reminding the public to never leave a running vehicle unattended with keys or fobs inside. Authorities report that in 2024 alone, over 6,500 vehicles have been stolen in Minneapolis, with 16% of those thefts involving vehicles left running with keys or fobs inside.
This remains an active investigation, and police urge anyone with information to come forward.
