🏅 Major Win for Student Athletes: DOJ and States Strike Deal to Ease NCAA Transfer Restrictions

WASHINGTON D.C. (trfnews.i234.me) – Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, along with 11 other attorneys general and the Department of Justice, has reached a landmark settlement with the NCAA to permanently ease restrictions on Division I college athletes who transfer schools multiple times. Previously, the NCAA’s transfer eligibility rule required athletes transferring among Division I schools to wait one year before competing in games unless granted a waiver. This settlement, which builds on the NCAA’s 2021 exemption for first-time transfers, eliminates what the coalition deemed an illegal restraint on athletes’ ability to market their labor and control their education.
