OGEMA, MN β A 41-year-old man from rural Ogema is facing felony first-degree DWI and gross misdemeanor DWI charges after a traffic stop involving a four-wheeler in Becker County.
According to court records, law enforcement officers observed Pete Alan Thompson driving a four-wheeler in White Earth village on the evening of January 29. As officers attempted to stop him, Thompson allegedly made multiple turns to avoid law enforcement before being caught.
Authorities identified Thompson and discovered that his driverβs license had been canceled as “inimical to public safety” due to previous DWI-related offenses.
During field sobriety testing, he showed signs of impairment, and a urine sample was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for further testing. Thompson has a history of three prior DWI-related convictions since 2021.
On January 31, his bail was set at $80,000 without conditions, or $40,000 with conditions, including:
β
No alcohol or drug use
β
No entering bars or liquor stores
β
No driving without a valid license
β
Use of an alcohol monitoring device at the countyβs expense (subject to reimbursement)
Thompson’s next court appearance is scheduled for February 24 before District Judge Michelle W. Lawson.
This is a developing case, and more updates will follow.
